Michael P. Misselwitz has accepted a full-time position as a designer in PennTerra Engineering’s Land Development design team.

He was an intern with PennTerra last summer and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Penn State in December.

ARM Group Inc. recently added the following employees to its staff:

David Yoxtheimer has been appointed as director of operations for the State College office. He received his bachelor’s in earth science from Penn State, where he is completing his doctorate in geosciences.

He has been providing hydrogeologic consulting services to the region for more than 15 years, specializing in water resource development and protection, and environmental site characterization.

Kim Nelson joined ARM Group as a senior engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the environmental and safety field. He received both a bachelor’s in biology and a master’s in environmental pollution control from Penn State.

Wendy Pelky has joined ARM Group as an environmental consultant. She has more than six years of experience dealing with design, permitting, construction quality control projects and environmental investigations. Pelky received a bachelor’s in environmental systems engineering from Penn State.

Joe Kunst joined ARM Group as an environmental analyst with more than 15 years of environmental consulting experience. Kunst received a bachelor’s degree from Penn State and previously worked with Bucek and Associates.

Organizations

The American Marketing Association has named Gary Lilien, distinguished research professor of management science at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, as the 2008 recipient of the AMA Irwin/McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award, the highest honor a marketing educator can receive.

Lilien, who has been on the Smeal faculty since 1981, is co-founder and research director of the college’s Institute for the Study of Business Markets.

He is the author or co-author of 12 books and more than 90 professional articles. Lilien is involved with numerous publications, including “Interfaces” and “Marketing Science.”

Jessica Dolan, owner of Room to Breathe Home & Office Organizing, was selected as a 2007 Top 100 Business Person by Pennsylvania Business Central publication.

In addition, she is now volunteering as a National Association of Professional Organizers Ambassador Liaison and is a final participant for the Rotary Group Study Exchange to Tunisia, Africa, in May.

Joseph C. Zappia III recently received The Most Improved Confidence Award presented by DuBois Business Networkers.

Zappia is the sales and marketing director for Keystone Insurance Consultants, a locally owned insurance brokerage firm that serves Philipsburg.

He is a member of the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County in State College.

Health care

Geisinger Physician Assistant Michael Doll has been elected president of Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery.

Doll’s two-year term began in January 2008.

Doll, a native of State College, has been a physician assistant in the Division of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Geisinger Medical Center since 1991.

For the past two years, he has worked part-time as a physician assistant while serving as a member of Geisinger’s ProvenCare team in the Division of Clinical Effectiveness.

He has also been nationally recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Lisa Korman, of State College, has been hired as Home Nursing Agency’s administrator of in-home services for Centre County.

Korman, a graduate of Lock Haven University with a bachelor’s degree in management science in accounting and information systems, was previously employed by Bon Secours Health System Inc. Most recently, Korman served as a senior internal auditor at Altoona Regional Health System Joint Venture.

Service

Cathy Payne, owner of J.H. Philips & Co., attended the Philadelphia Gift Show held Jan. 5 through Jan. 8. She attended a number of seminars and saw products that will be introduced to the market in 2008.

J.H. Philips & Co. is a cafe and gift shop located in downtown Philipsburg on Front Street.

Banking

Thomas Minichiello, of State College, has been named vice president/branch manager at the State College office of Fulton Bank. He will be responsible for the sales growth and the daily operations of the branch.

Minichiello comes to Fulton Bank from M&T Bank where he was a vice president/branch manager.

An Omega Bank employee was recently named to the Top 100 People list of Pennsylvania Business Central, a business newspaper covering central Pennsylvania.

Donita R. Koval, president and CEO, and Larry Hutchinson, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency loan officer, were named to the list.

Koval has been named by U.S. Banker as one of its 25 Women to Watch twice in the last four years, was the recipient of the 2007 Athena Award presented by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, and is active on many professional and community boards.

James VanAmburg has been named as manager of the Northwest Savings Bank office at 1524 W. College Ave. in State College.

He brings 14 years of financial industry experience to his new position, and has worked in Centre County since 2005. Prior to joining Northwest, he was a loan officer in Corning, N.Y. and, most recently, served as a business development officer for a State College credit union.

Education

A paper co-authored by Marvin Goldberg, Bard professor of business administration at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, has been selected as the winner of the 2007 Thomas C. Kinnear/Journal of Public Policy & Marketing Award by the journal’s editorial board.

“Heightening Adolescent Vigilance toward Alcohol Advertising to Forestall Alcohol Use,” was co-authored by Goldberg with Lori J. Bechtel, Gerald J. Gorn and Keith E. Niedermeier.

Goldberg has spent decades studying alcohol, food, and tobacco advertising and its effects on young people.
