March is the greenest month on the calendar representing all things Irish and the cathartic release from cabin fever to coincide with the upcoming spring season. Like it did last year, The State Theatre will burst at the hand-sewn seams of its ghillies with an abundance of activity, Irish and otherwise. In addition to local legends Callanish performing at the State, the venue also will host the second annual Irish Music and Arts Celebration.
The Irish Music and Arts Celebration will boast traditional music, Irish step dancing by the Tir Na Nog Dance Studio and Penn State’s Rince na Leon dance team, folk tales told by Betsy Whitman, various demonstrations, and a collection of arts and crafts to create and purchase, all paying homage to the Emerald Isle. Other activities include:
“This to me is how you really celebrate a culture, and everybody will be able to experience it on Sunday,” Callanish percussionist Carol Lindsay said.
