Eagles stumble at Mount Union

MOUNT UNION — Mount Union shot 24-of-35 from the foul line and gained momentum in the final three minutes of its game against Bald Eagle Area in a 76-70 boys’ basketball win on Friday.

The Trojans (5-14) and Eagles (5-14) combined to score 59 points in the final period, as BEA grabbed a slim lead in the final minutes only to turn the ball and momentum over to Mount Union.

Mitch Moyer led the Eagles with 20 points, followed by 19 from Jason Taylor and 15 from Derek Noll.

Bobcats run past Bulldogs

DUNCANSVILLE — Centre County Christian Academy couldn’t slow down Blair County Christian in a 52-21 loss on Friday.

The Bobcats led 34-9 at halftime and didn’t let up, as Eddie Campbell and Jared Maurer led the Bulldogs with five points each.

Girls’ basketball Reichenbach leadsLady Bulldogs to win

DUNCANSVILLE — Janelle Reichenbach led Centre County Christian Academy with a career-high 28 points in a 48-26 victory over Blair County Christian on Friday.

Kristy Maholic added eight points, five steals and five assists for the Lady Bulldogs, while Hannah Thomas led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 rebounds.

Lady Raiders topple Tyrone

BELLEFONTE — Bellefonte stormed to an early 15- point lead going into halftime and never let up in its 57-37 victory over Tyrone.

Josie Capparelle led the Lady Raiders with 17 points, while Angie Proper scored 14 in the win. “We keep working on our defense, we’re continuting to learn the system and to get better each and every day,” said Bellefonte head coach Darin Hazel.

Brooke Garbinsky led Tyrone with 12 points, all coming on 3-pointers.

Lady Mounties scare Penns Valley

PHILIPSBURG — Penns Valley only led Philipsburg-Osceola by 11 points at the half before pulling away for a 67-41 victory on Friday.

Brittany LeVan led the Lady Rams (12-4) with 26 points, eight rebounds and eight steals. Korey McCaffrey added 12 points on four 3-pointers and contributed six assists.

Taylor Harpster paced the Lady Mounties (2-13) with 14 points, while Alexi Cartwright scored 13 and Alison Patrick finished with 10.

Lady Eagles fall in overtime

WINGATE — Bald Eagle Area overcame a halftime deficit before falling to Central 50-46 in overtime on Friday. Danielle Reese and Ann Hoover led the Lady Eagles with 10 points apiece.

Central crushed the Lady Eagles 70-31 in the teams’ first meeting earlier this season.

Harris captures first at Invitational

PLYMOUTH — Philipsburg-Osceola diver Jordan Harris captured first place overall in the Ray Wills Invitational at Wyoming Valley West High School on Friday.

Harris scored 316.15 points, while Berwick’s Brett Cartier placed second with a score of 307.60.

State College improves to 6-0

WILLIAMSPORT — State College won 10 of 12 events Friday to defeat Williamsport 102-82.

Steve Forrest (200-yard freestyle, 100 backstroke), Steve Boris (200 individual medley, 500 freestyle) and Will Pryor (50 and 100 freestyle) led the Little Lions. Tony Romanini (100 butterfly) and Dan Miller (100 breaststroke) also won events, while State College won the 200 and 400 freestyle relay.s.

Lady Little Lions swim to victory

WILLIAMSPORT — State College swept all three relays on its way to a 107-75 victory over Williamsport on Friday.

The Lady Little Lions had seven different winners in the victory, led by Maddie Madore (200 freestyle), Emily Zheng (200 IM), Megan Andersen (50 freestyle), Jilli Warburton (diving), Anna Johnson (100 freestyle), Charlotte Bahnfleth (500 freestyle), and Jenny Ryan (100 breaststroke).
