State College blanks Juniata

STATE COLLEGE — The State College field hockey team put forth a solid performance in a 9-0 win over Juniata on Tuesday.

Amanda Dinunzio, Tori Patrick, and Hannah Zavacky all contributed to the Lady Little Lions’ victory with two goals each. Dinunzio also contributed with an assist on one of the Zavacky goals. Naughtia Lehtihet, Helen Correll and Rebecca Grande also scored for State College.

Bellefonte earns sweep

BELLEFONTE — Bellefonte got its first win against Huntingdon in many years Tuesday as the Lady Red Raiders earned a 25-20, 26-24, 25-15 victory.

Kaity Clouser had a big night offensively with 16 kills while Emily Putnam collected 33 assists for the still undefeated Lady Raiders (6-0).

Jerrica Harvey had a team-high nine digs,Jena Matterhad three blocks andMandy Robbins served up three aces.

Rams blank Tyrone

TYRONE — Penns Valley made a strong showing en route to sweeping Tyrone 3-0 Tuesday.

Maria Andrews led the way for Penns Valley, recording 14 kills, two blocks and three aces. Taylor Poorman also added 15 assists for the Lady Rams.

BOY'S CROSS COUNTRY

P-O earns sweep

LEWISTOWN — Philipsburg-Osceola used consistency to work their way past both Central 25-30 and Lewistown 15-50 Tuesday.

P-O finished with three runners in the top 10, all of which finishing in the top six. Nick Patrick led the way, turning in a time of 19:19 and finishing second. Not far behind him was his brother Chris Patrick, who finished one second behind at 19:20 and one spot behind in third.

Kistler, Brown pace Rams

SPRING MILLS — Peter Kistler and Ryan Brown placed first and second, respectively, Tuesday as Penns Valley defeated Bald Eagle Area 15-50 and Tyrone 18-38 while Tyrone ousted BEA 15-50.

Kistler’s winning time was 17 minutes, 32 seconds with Brown coming in eight seconds behind.

The Rams’ Will Lush (18:25), Matt Fuller (18:39) and Michael Decker (19:00) followed in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Luke Brackenclaimed ninth (21:12) to lead BEA.

Lady Rams earn wins

SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley’s Sara Benfer won by over a minute Tuesday over the rest of the field while leading the Lady Rams to 15-50 decisions over both Bald Eagle Area and Tyrone with BEA toppling Tyrone 15-50.

Benfer (22:58) was followed by BEA’s Kara Miller (24:03) in second, Penns Valley’s Gabi Maylock (24:45) in fourth and Lauryn Davidson (24:51) in fifth for the Lady Eagles.

P-O takes two

LEWISTOWN — The Philipsburg-Osceola girls’ cross country team finished with the top three finishers en route to a 15-50 win over Lewistown and 20-37 win over Central.

Lauren Simcox led both P-O and the rest of the field with a time of 21:02, and following her were Mary Komisar and Erika Patrick, who finished with times of 22:05 and 22:56, respectively.

Bellefonte wins five-team meet

HOLLIDAYSBURG— Bellefonte shot a 209 to best Philipsburg-Osceola, Hollidaysburg, State College and Penns Valley in girls’ golf Tuesday.

The low round came from Bellefonte’s Haley Pollick, who shot a 46. P-O’s Morgan Coble finished with a 50 and State College’s Emily Tenson shot a 52.

Lady Little Lions blank Lady Tigers

HOLLIDAYSBURG — State College earned a big road victory Tuesday night, pulling away with three second-half goals to knock off Hollidaysburg 4-0.

Megan Ritchie scored two of those goals after intermission and Kelsey Graham netted the other, with Paige Fry, Hanna Mincemoyer and Heather Derr all collecting assists.

Rams top Panthers

SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley overcame an early goal to come back and beat Lewistown 4-1 Tuesday.

Liz Ventura’s goal at 29:17 tied the game at 1-1 for Penns Valley, which pulled away with three second- half goals from Heather Holmes, Leah Mothersbaugh and Robin Siegenthaler.

P-O rolls to win

TYRONE — The Philipsburg-Osceola girls’ soccer team scored six first-half goals and cruised to a 9-0 win over Tyrone.

Annetta Czar led the way early for P-O, scoring the first two goals in a span of 1:05 in the first half. Marissa Albert also contributed two first-half goals, as Maggi Ferguson and Marty Beck rounded out the scoring.

Ashley Wood, Liz Josephson and Alayna Bertothy added second-half goals for P-O.

CCCA cruises to win

LEWISTOWN — Morgan Donley scored five goals Tuesday as Centre County Christian Academy dropped Mifflin County Christian 10-2.

Olivia Mele Added two goals for the Lady Bulldogs (3-1), while Lindsay Sagastume, Makayla Donley and Naomi Cahill also scored.

CM downs BEA

MILL HALL — Central Mountain made three first-half goals stand in a 3-1 win over Bald Eagle Area.

Josh Schall trimmed BEA’s deficit to 2-1 midway through the first half, but the Eagles sputtered the rest of the way.

P-O falls in OT

PHILIPSBURG — Tyrone’s Josh Burwell scored five minutes into overtime Tuesday to propel the Golden Eagles past Philipsburg-Osceola 3-2.

Missing four starters due to illness or injury, the Mounties tied the game in the final five minutes with a pair of goals from Alex Boumerhi to force the extra period.

Tyrone broke up a scoreless game early in the second half with a Niko Lambert goal at 57:16. Derek Montgomery later put Tyrone up 2-0 with a goal at 74:00.

Penns Valley gets shutout win

LEWISTOWN — Anthony Glossner and Martin Black put goals on the board as Penns Valley blanked Lewistown 2-0.

Nate Sweeley picked up the shutout in net for the Rams (6-1), stopping all six shots he faced.
