ERIE — Corinne Jones rolled at No. 1 singles as State College defeated Mercyhurst Prep 4-1 in girls' tennis action Friday.
Jones defeated Megan McLaughlin 6-1, 6-4 in the top singles slot and Cara Rangaswamy netted a tough 7-6, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 to give the Lady Little Lions a 2-1 margin in singles play.
The teams of Maria Dimuccio-Jenna Max-field and Kelly Dimuccio- Rebecca Rountree scored straight-set victories as State College swept the doubles action.
“We got off slow start and played well enough to win,” said State College coach Jane Borden, whose team plays at Erie McDowell today. “We’ll have our work cut out for us (against McDowell). We can’t start that slowly again.”

Lady Red Raiders split tri-meet
BURNHAM — Bellefonte’s Danielle Dombek placed second as the Lady Raiders’ split in a trimeet Thursday.
Beelfonte defeated Central Mountain 15-49, but fell 19-36 against Indian Valley.
Dombek covered the 3.2 mile course in 21 minutes, 57 seconds to finish 15 seconds Indian Valley’s Brook King.
Sara Bannach (24:00), Brittany Catherman (24:08), Molly Cain (24:39) and Debra Mott (24:42) finished seventh through 10th, to round out the Bellefonte scoring.

Bellefonte nets split
BURNHAM — Nick Grasser’s fifth-place finish paced Bellefonte as the Red Radiers split a tri-meet on Thursday.
Bellefonte topped Central Mountain 24-33, but fell 18-42 against Indian Valley.
Grasser covered the 3.2- mile course in 18 minutes, 44 seconds. He finished 1:36 behind Indian Valley’s Alex Monroe, who cruised to an easy win. Dave Tanney (7th, 19:11) and Zach Catherman (10th, 19:35) also placed in the top 10 for the Red Raiders.
