ROARING SPRINGS — Jimmy Ferguson finished second to help give Tyrone the District 6 boys’ golf crown on Wednesday.
Ferguson shot a 73, two strokes behind champion Brayden Shipman of Central Mountain.
Tyrone prevailed with a score of 237, 14 strokes ahead of runner-up Central Mountain (251).
Central’s Luke Barnhart was third with a 79 while helpinging lead the Scarlet Dragons to third place with 255.
Philipsburg-Osceola’s Andrew Reifer led all local golfers with an 89. Bellefonte’s Caleb Thomas and John Kowalchuk each carded a 90 while Penns Valley’s Zach Stahl and Luke Mele each shot 92.
Bellefonte finished sixth, Penns Valley was eighth and P-O was ninth out of 11 schools.

BEA’s Miller prevails
MILL HALL —Kara Miller won by 58 seconds Tuesday while leading Bald Eagle Area against Lewistown and Central Mountain.
Miller’s first-place time was 22 minutes, 25 seconds with teammate Lauryn Davidson next at 23:33, Central Mountain’s Rachel Salmon (23:41) was third and the Lady Eagles’ Sasha Hutching (27:30) in fourth.
BOY'S CROSS COUNTRY
Bracken leads BEA
MILL HALL — Bald Eagle Area’s Luke Bracken finished third to lead the Eagles against Lewistown and Central Mountain on Tuesday.
Bracken finished in 18 minutes, 44 seconds with Central Mountain’s Aaron Fisher taking first place in 16:59 and Lewistown’s Nace Abram in second at 17:15.
BEA’s Keith Miller claimed sixth in 20:03.

State College drops Central Mountain
STATE COLLEGE — State College swept Central Mountain 7-0 Wednesday.
Corinne Jones, Maria DiMuccio and Jenna Maxfield each won in straight sets in singles play. Leading the Lady Little Lions (8-5) in doubles with wins were the tandems of Kelly DiMuccio-Jillian Rodgers, Kaitrin Rodgers-Shannon Lachman, Brittney McDonough- Desiree Dennis andPaulina Pevzner- Nicole Benincasa.
On Tuesday, Loyalsock edged State College 3-2.
Jones was the lone singles winner with Jillian Rodgers and Lillian Xu winning in doubles.
The District 6 singles championships will be played Friday at Altoona.
GIRL'S VOLLEYBALL
Altoona takes down State College
ALTOONA — State College managed to win just one game Wednesday as Altoona dropped the Lady Little Lions 25-14, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19.
Shannon Traurig led State College (6-2) with 21 digs, Alli Fleagle had 30 assists and Lauren Hester totaled 13 kills.Randi Leath added two blocks with Liz Novack tallying two aces.
The Lady Little Lions will next travel to the Rally in the Valley Tournament Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School.
