State College police were called to a home on Independence Avenue in College Township around 2 p.m. Monday for reports of two people with access to guns and drugs threatening their own lives.
Chief Tom King said around 4:15 that the house had been entered and secured by police, and two unconscious people were found inside.
They were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Centre Lifelink ambulance a short time later.
To his knowledge, no shots were fired.
Never miss a local story.
"It's a medical situation," he said. "I'm not sure if there was any criminal activity."
King said family members called police because two people were threatening themselves. "No threats were made against any other persons," he said.
"We prepared the team, and entered," King said, from the command post set up to the side of Sam's Club on Benner Pike.
Several roads in the area were closed while police secured the home.
