Quaker Steak & Lube will return to the area next month, according to a restaurant spokeswoman.
The eatery will open at 3 p.m. Oct. 23, with entertainment for customers, at the remodeled shopping plaza at 501 Benner Pike, across from Nittany Mall.
Spokeswoman Amanda Lucas said the restaurant chain is back in the State College area based on the results of a poll on Facebook.
“State College was on that list and we knew we had to make it happen,” Lucas said.
Never miss a local story.
A Quaker Steak restaurant closed its doors in 2008 at the current site of Otto’s Pub in Patton Township.
The local franchise is under new management and owned by the Druzak Merchant Group, which is also opening four Quaker Steak & Lube restaurants in the Philadelphia area.
General Manager Craig Brennan said customers can expect an assortment of activities that first day, including karaoke, a classic car cruise and live entertainment.
The restaurant will be located in the same plaza as Rey Azteca Mexican restaurant, and sits between Big Lots and newly opened Advance Auto Parts.
Brennan said work was about 65 percent complete.
“We’re doing all the finishing work now and moving in the equipment this week, painting and finalizing things,” Brennan said.
Brennan said the restaurant will employ about 150 people, including seven managers.
