When Stocker dealerships in State College found that business was growing, management knew it had to expand.
Stocker Subaru, 1454 Dreibelbis Road, is hosting a public grand opening starting at 9 a.m. Thursday with door prizes, games and other activities. The celebration will be held until Oct. 31 during facility hours, said General Manager Cory Stocker.
“We were growing pretty quickly. I guess if we’re going to have a problem, having too much business would be a good problem to have,” he said.
Stocker expanded the dealership to include a 17,000-square-foot Subaru facility that would include a full-service drive-in so customers could drive right into the building instead of waiting outside. It also will have parts and accessories on display.
Hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays also will be extended to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, the dealership will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Stocker added.
Stocker said that construction started in September2012 and was completed by Labor Day.
“It’s geared toward customer satisfaction and convenience,” Stocker said.
The cost of the expansion was not disclosed to the CDT.
Stocker added that renovations to Stocker Chevrolet next door, at 701 Benner Pike, will be complete by Thanksgiving. The Chevy dealership went under a renovation earlier this year that included a new facade and a reconstructed customer service area with a drive-through area for vehicles, Stocker said.
A large grand opening celebration for the Chevy dealership renovations will be held in November, Stocker said.
