Penn State demolished on Tuesday an old farm house on its property at the Millbrook Marsh Nature Center in College Township.
Physical Plant spokesman Paul Ruskin said that the house became flooded after a leak, and the university determined the repairs and upgrades would have been more expensive than the value of the home.
Penn State leases the property at 614 Puddintown Road to Centre Region Parks and Recreation for $1.
Director Ronald Woodhead said the property may be used as a picnic area.
Ruskin said the house previously was the home of ClearWater Conservancy founding member Jim McClure, who died in February 2013.
