Four people were taken to UPMC Altoona after a one-vehicle crash early Saturday on Interstate 99 near Port Matilda.
Police said Jessica Miller, 24, of Mount Union, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer on I-99 south near Exit 61 when she lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons at about 12:35 a.m. The vehicle struck a concrete barrier and flipped. Miller was ejected from the vehicle and suffered severe injuries.
Two passengers in the vehicle, Gary Allen, 38, of McVeytown, and a 5-year-old girl from Mount Union, also suffered severe injuries. A third passenger, a 9-year-old boy from Mount Union, suffered moderate injuries.
The Explorer, which was severely damaged, was towed from the scene by Halfmoon Towing. Philipsburg state police were assisted at the scene by Port Matilda Fire Company, Port Matilda EMS and Centre LifeLink EMS.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
