Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie McGinty will be the keynote speaker at the State College Democrats’ spring event Wednesday, said Elaine Prestia, the group’s chairwoman.
The event kicks off 5:30 p.m. at the Ramada in State College. The $22 admission includes an appetizers buffet.
Prestia said in a statement that State College has made “great strides” in protecting the environment and working toward clean energy jobs.
“McGinty is former Pennsylvania environment secretary and ran the White House Office of Environmental Quality,” Prestia said. “We know we can benefit from her insights as we move forward.”
The group will feature both candidates for the 5th Congressional District, Kerith Strano Taylor — a family lawyer and president of the Brookville school board — and Tom Tarantella — a 22-year Army veteran from Renovo.
Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Rush Township, will be giving a Harrisburg update, and members of the State College Area School District school board will offer information on the referendum.
