The man who police said set fire to property at two State College homes waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
State College police said he is responsible for two fires May 18, when a shed burned at one Orchard Park-area home and furniture on the porch of another a short distance away. The two homes are close to the Orchard Park bike path.
Timothy Penrod, 24, of State College, lives nearby at a Strawberry Fields community residential facility.
Damage in the two separately filed arson cases totals about $12,000.
Penrod was in court last week on charges that he vandalized Pine Hall Cemetery on Memorial Day. Court records show Penrod was hospitalized after the arsons and released the day before the vandalism incident. Strawberry Fields personnel reported to police that Penrod had broken his curfew at the time of both crimes.
Bail on the two arson cases remains at $50,000 straight for each. Penrod already was incarcerated at Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 straight bail on the vandalism case, making total bail $150,000.
