Sounds is holding its next event from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday in room 201 of the State College Municipal Building, 243 S. Allen St.
Live entertainment will be from Mango West and Several Pounds of Fruit.
Organization founder Misha Cleveland said Mango West is a reggae folk duo that recently entered the local music scene. SPF, she said, is a high-energy band that performed at Summer’s Best Music Fest and the State College Area High School Battle of the Bands.
Sounds is a local nonprofit organization that aims to bring sober entertainment to downtown venues. The organization also encourages local artists to display and sell their work.
The event will include an art sale and refreshments.
Tickets are $5 at the door; volunteers and artists get in free.
Cleveland said that after looking for a permanent space to hold events, Borough Manager Tom Fountaine has given the organization a long-term waiver fee for the use of the community room at the Municipal Muilding, as well as storage space.
Volunteers and artists interested in displaying their work can contact Cleveland at firstname.lastname@example.org or 933-6731.
