Public defender Deborah Lux was in court Friday asking Centre County Judge Bradley Lunsford to approve an expert witness for Danielle Packer.
Packer, 22, of Bellefonte, faces murder charges in the 2012 death of Matthew Snyder. Police said she huffed aerosol computer duster while driving, leading to the head-on crash with Snyder’s vehicle on Benner Pike.
Lux wants to hire a toxicology expert to rebut the prosecution’s expert testimony on the concentration of chemicals in Packer’s blood.
Assistant District Attorney Nathan Boob told the court he didn’t oppose the request, but that he didn’t think any expert would be able to counter the facts in the case.

Lunsford approved a $2,000 expenditure for a specialist.
Packer’s case is on track for trial in October. Boob and Lunsford expressed a desire to keep the case from being delayed.
