Ferguson Township bridge
to remain closed into fall
Work to replace beams on a state-owned bridge in Ferguson Township will continue until mid-September, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.
The Marengo Road bridge across Halfmoon Creek, about 3.6 miles from the village of Centennial, was expected to reopen Saturday. A detour using West Gatesburg Road, Tadpole Road and Marengo Road will remain in place until the construction is finished.
Built in 1908 and last reconstructed in 1977, the bridge is 21 feet long and carries 430 vehicles a day over the creek, according to PennDOT.
