The State College police have released recommendations for a safe and secure Thanksgiving holiday.
During Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks last year, police said, there were about 25 burglaries, mostly at student residences.
The State College Police Department arrested two suspects in February.
To reduce the risk of theft or burglary, police recommend : securing residences, valuables and vehicles; holding mail and newspapers; having a trusted friend or neighbor check on properties; ensuring sufficient lighting; and not hiding spare keys.
Police also ask the public to be vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
