The Centre County commissioners tabled a motion Tuesday to award a bid for the second phase of work on the Temple Court project in Bellefonte.
Commissioner Michael Pipe said waiting another week to award the bid would allow staff and the architect to finalize research on the bids.
If the contractor being considered were local and had worked with the county previously, action could be taken, he said. But with a new contractor from out of the area, staff still wanted to do a little more research to make sure they’re comfortable.
Pipe wouldn’t say what contractor the county was considering, but did indicate the lowest bid, at $3.1 million, had come from Caliber Contracting Services, of Carnegie.
In other business, the commissioners unanimously approved the 2015 budget.
The $80.9 million budget breaks down to $73.4 million for the operating budget and $7.5 million in the capital reserve. The county millage rate will hold at 7.84 mills with no increase for the fifth consecutive year.
Tax revenue is calculated at $26.3 million, with 1 mill bringing in $3.4 million.
The tentative budget was first announced in November. Details can be found on the county website.
