Happy Valley is looking at a relatively snow-free weekend, according to the National Weather Service in State College, with sunny skies slated for Saturday.
But with clear skies comes a warning. A wind-chill advisory is in effect until noon Saturday, with the possibility of heavy gusts bringing below-zero temperatures through the area.
Winds from the west are bringing an Arctic cold front to Centre County, meteorologist Elyse Hagner said. Wind chill temperatures of minus-20 degrees could be felt locally, with 30-below chills hitting the higher elevations.
“A couple of times each winter we get similar situations,” she said. “It will be chilly, temps will be below normal, but we tend to get those patterns each winter.”
Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 29 degrees, according to Accuweather.com.
