State police in Huntingdon County are investigating the death of a farm animal as a cruelty to animals incident.
According to police, an unknown person or people forcefully entered two pitchfork handles into a cow’s rectum at a property along Mount Carmel Road in Springfield Township between mid-April and mid-May, though information was not released until Thursday. The handles broke off and were lodged inside the cow.
One handle was removed but the second remained inside the cow, which later died from the injuries, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
