closeGov. Ed Rendell will take the state budget debate to the lobby of Bellefonte Area High School Thursday.
The event is open to the public, and scheduled to begin at noon.
The Democratic governor has clashed with Senate and House Republicans over the 2009-2010 state budget, which was supposed to be passed by last week.
Senate Bill 850, supported by Republicans, called for basic education subsidies to remain flat for school districts, while cutting other programs to balance the budget. Rendell’s proposal call for a $418 million increase in the basic education subsidies, and a combination of cuts and a 3-year, 16.3 percent income tax increase.
Rendell’s also scheduled to speak in the Keystone Central School District in Lock Haven at 10 a.m. today.
On Tuesday, Rendell made stops at South Middleton School District in Cumberland County and Bermudian Springs School District in Adams County.
