closePolice: 84-year-old tasered after pointing gun at teen, troopers
State police at Lamar tasered an 84-year-old man after they say he pointed a rifle, first at a 17-year-old, then at state troopers, and refused commands to drop the weapon Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred between 5 and 6 p.m. Tuesday along Masden Hollow Road, about one mile west of state Route 150, near Beech Creek in Clinton County.
According to police, Howard P. Litz, struck the 17-year-old male in the arm with a piece of wood, then pointed a .22 rifle at his chest and told him he was going to shoot.
Troopers responded to the scene, and as they were interviewing the 17-year-old -- who they did not identify -- they saw Litz in his yard. The troopers approached Litz, who pointed th erifle at them, police said.
After Litz was tasered by a trooper and taken into custody, he was provided medical treatment for evaluation, released from the hospital and taken to Clinton County Prison for arraignment.
No further information was immediately available.
