Melissa Alterio, 22, was not wearing a seat belt when her westbound car struck a deer in the middle of Route 45 about 12:45 a.m., according to state police at Rockview. Her 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt went off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and rolled numerous times, police said. Alterio was ejected from the vehicle, and was found lying along the eastbound lane of the road. Her car came to a stop on its roof in the westbound lane.
No further information on her condition was immediately available Friday.
