Nittany Lion photo, youth drawing contest begins

Calling all youngsters.

Calling all photographers.

Calling all Penn State fans.

Calling all ... well perhaps we’ve called everyone by now.

Everyone is invited to enter our first Nittany Lion drawing and photo contest, timed for a big football season ahead.

It’s simple — children 12 and younger are challenged to draw the Penn State mascot and send us their best work. And photographers/fans are challenged to select their very best photo of the Nittany Lion — taken anytime and anywhere — and send us a copy.

The rules are these:

u One entry per person and drawings and photos become property of the Centre Daily Times and may be published in print and/or online.

u Drawings should be done on 81/2 by 11 white paper and should have the child’s name, address and phone number, written legibly on the back of the drawing.

u Photos should be jpg files at least 2 megabytes in size.

u Send your entries via e-mail to cdtphoto@centredaily. com, fax to 814 238-1811 or mail to Nittany Lion drawing and contest, CDT. 3400 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16801.

u Each entry should include your a name, phone number, address and e-mail, and why the drawing or photo is special.

u Entries will be accepted through September. Drawings and photos will be published on home football weekends during the season, and the finalists in each category — as judged by a panel — will be presented in the Centre Daily Times and online during the Ohio State weekend in late October.

u Print and online readers of the Centre Daily Times will vote to select the top three drawings and photos from the finalists. Winners — to be announced before the season finale on the road at Michigan State — will receive print and online recognition and copies of the CDT’s book, “Penn State Forever.”

Good luck youngsters, photographers and fans.
