Share your favorite day-trip, weekend spots

With gas prices rising — along with the cost of almost everything else — we’re betting that more and more people will be forgoing long trips this summer and searching out destinations closer to home.

The Centre Daily Times would like to hear about your favorite nearby vacation spots and share them with our readers.

When you’re done telling us about the great camp site, or museum, or swimming hole or antiquing destination, we hope to compile two lists:

• Top day-trip destinations

• Top weekend destinations — spots that are just far enough away to require an overnight stay.

Include your name, address, phone number and e-mail and e-mail a paragraph description of your favorite nearby destination to cdt newstips@centredaily.com, or mail it to Travel, Centre Daily Times, 3400 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16804. The deadline is May 16. From the entries, we’ll pick one at random to receive a $20 gas card, to make that next day trip a little easier.
