The preseason polls are coming out, and Phil Steele's College Football 2008 has Penn State projected 10th in the nation and second in the Big Ten.
The publication also tabs Maurice Evans and A.J. Wallace as pre-season All-Americans.
It's one of many rankings, we know, but what do you think? Tell us in our own preseason poll, started today online, and talk with other fans.
Football talk in June can't hurt, in sunny Happy Valley or wherever you live.
Penn State althletes are in the news today in another big way, with the volleyball national championship teams' visit to the White House yesterday.
Men's coach Mark Pavlik described it this way: “The ‘Wow’ factor for me personally is off the charts. We were talking on the bus down with some of the guys and I said, ‘Did you ever even consider when you first picked up a volleyball, that ball would get you into the White House as a guest of the President, shaking his hand and having a picture taken with him, simply because of the sport you’ve chosen to play?”
Read Gordon Brunskill's story and wish the players well if you'd like.
This all tops the midday report at the middle of the work week. Thanks for joining us.

“This is exciting to me,” Marsha Sackash, supervisory principal of Mountaintop Area and Howard elementary schools and director of elementary education, told Pauling. “I have never had an option like this in my entire career.”
What do you think? We've had an online poll on the subject since it first came up in College Township. Vote and see what others are saying.
