State to build 'nature inn' at Bald Eagle State Park

The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is planning to build a 16-room inn at Bald Eagle State Park and is holding an open house to provide information about it from 4 to 8 p.m. May 28 at the Beech Creek Fire Company social hall.

The project will be the state park system’s first “nature inn,” according to a news release, and will highlight the area’s bird watching opportunities. It will be built using “green” construction practices, including high efficiency geothermal heating and cooling, solar water heating and high efficiency lighting.

The open house will include 11 stations with information about the park, the inn’s design and recreational opportunities. The DCNR expects to break ground on the project in the fall.
