The Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1665 N. Atherton St. celebrated the completion of a 12-week remodel project on Friday.
The store has been operational during the remodel, which began on March 21. The renovations include updates to several sections, including produce, electronics and the pharmacy.
Tessa Newman, an assistant manager, said improving foot traffic throughout the store informed most of the redesign. The store’s staff rearranged aisles in the produce and electronics sections, and added about 16 feet of pharmacy aisle space to account for additional products. Extra lighting was added in the produce section.
An expanded home lines area, Newman said, will help with distributing inventory for back-to-school products.
“(For) a lot of our customers who may not have been shopping with us during the remodel,” Newman said, “this grand reopening allowed them to know that they can come back and allowed our ... company to know that we have updated.”
The original remodel was scheduled for 14 weeks.
“We set a goal,” Newman said, “and then we try to beat that goal.”
The store is offering giveaways throughout the weekend, with the drawing taking place on Monday. Among the prizes are a bike, a scooter and a chair.
