6th annual Centre County photo contest begins

Now is the time for local shutterbugs to compete in the sixth annual Centre County photo contest, sponsored by the Centre Daily Times.

We’re looking for your best photos of 2009 taken in the county (except for one category).

Here are this year’s categories:

-- People

-- Animals (including pets, insects and wildlife)

-- Scenery

-- Outside Centre County (only category that accepts photos taken anywhere else in the world)

Everyone is invited to participate, but please follow these few rules: Each entry must note the date and location the photo was taken and the names of the people in the photo, if possible, as well as an explanation of why it is your favorite. Photos must include your name, hometown and telephone number (not for publication).

Please note the category in which you wish to enter the photo. Entries that are not categorized will be disqualified. All photos must be taken in 2009.

Entries are limited to two per person and will be accepted though Dec. 31. They can be mailed to Photo Contest, Centre Daily Times, 3400 East College Ave., State College, PA 16801 or e-mailed to cdtphoto@centredaily.com. If you e-mail a photo, it must be sent in JPEG format (please make the file size at least 100K).

Judges will select the top entries in each category and then it’ll be up to you. Readers will be able to select their own personal favorites in print and online voting. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category.

Because of the volume of entries, we cannot return submitted prints.
