Vana Dainty has worked in Bellefonte for 19 years, most recently promoting everything the town has to offer as the Keystone Community Development Association coordinator.
But her dream has always been to own a business — not just any kind.
“I’ve never had a business, but this is something I’ve always loved and I’ve always wanted this type of store,” Dainty said. “It was a good time and a good opportunity.”
Iron Star Trading Company opened Thursday at 118 N. Allegheny St. and is an antique, collectible and art store. The borough is home to a few antique stores, and Dainty said that’s part of the idea.
“There are already some antique stores in Bellefonte, and we want to work together to be an antique destination,” Dainty said.
In other words, if you want to shop for antiques, she said the borough is the place to be.
Dainty opened the antique shop with her partner, Kevin Clark.
“This weekend we had a lot of people in and interested in what we’re doing, and we hope they’ll be back,” Dainty said. “I’m just happy that the more people that come in the word will get out there.”
The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
