A downtown State College CVS will close soon due to the expansion of a separate location.
The company’s space off Beaver Avenue has a dwindling inventory as staff prepares its closure. The target date for shutting down is July 15 after 23 years in business, and the closure will reduce the number of locations to four stores in the Centre Region.
The move comes at the same time that the CVS next to Indigo off East College Avenue is undergoing an expansion. The store will double in size by taking the space previously occupied by Harper’s, a menswear store that relocated in April to 224 E. College Ave. next to The Tavern. Harper’s other neighbor Anthym recently closed.
It unknown when the expansion of the CVS off East College Avenue will be complete.
CVS staff and corporate representatives declined comment.
