Two people were seriously injured and another killed in a Friday crash.
Jeffry Hockenberry, 34, of Richfield, was traveling northbound on state Route 235 toward McAlisterville in Juniata County. Christopher Duncan, 25, of Lancaster, was traveling southbound on the same road toward Thompsontown and had a child passenger, according to state police at Lewistown.
Hockenberry’s vehicle began traveling on the southbound lane for unknown reasons, and Duncan reportedly swerved in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid a crash. The vehicles hit head-on at 11:17 p.m. in the southbound lane near Salem and Black Dog roads in Delaware Township, police said.
Hockenberry was pronounced dead at the scene. Duncan was taken to Holy Spirit Hospital, and his child passenger was flown by helicopter to the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
State police were assisted at the scene by Central Juniata and Thompsontown fire companies and EMS.
