closeIn Brief: Longtime Bellefonte board member resigns
From CDT staff reports
Rodney Musser resigned from the Bellefonte Area school board on Tuesday night. Musser, whose third four-year term expires at the end of this year, was not seeking re-election.
There are currently four open seats for the fall election. Jeff Steiner, Becky Rock and Keith Hamilton are running on both the Republican and Democratic ticket. Joseph Lawrence is running on the Republican ticket.
Rock and Hamilton are incumbents, and board President Robert Lumley-Sapanski said he’d like to appoint one of the two expected newcomers, Steiner or Lawrence, to the board.
The board has 30 days to appoint a new member, before doing so becomes the responsibility of Centre County judges.
In other action, the board unanimously approved a $40.795 million 2009-10 budget. The millage rate will be 42.975, a 4.6 percent increase in real estate taxes.
