A fire destroyed a vacant house Monday morning along Jacksonville Road.
The call came in around 8:30 a.m., Howard Fire Company Assistant Chief Tim Flick said.
No injuries were reported as the house in the 4600 block was vacant.
“It appeared that the house was being torn down,” he said.

According to Flick, there may have been something burning near the house that spread to the basement.
“The place was totally engulfed by the time we got there,” he said.
About 14 Howard Fire Company firefighters responded to the blaze, he said.
The fire consumed the house in about 20 minutes.
Firefighters were able to leave the scene by about 10:30 a.m.
An investigation has not been ordered, Flick said.
