A fire started in the rear wheels area of a tractor trailer in the early afternoon April 20, 2016. The truck was traveling east on I-80 near mile marker 162 when the fire spread and engulfed the entire trailer. The road was shut down until firefighters extinguished the blaze and the scene was cleaned up.

Bald Eagle and Bellefonte area school district representatives participated in the 13th annual Polar Bear Plunge at Black Moshannon State Park. The districts went head-to-head in a friendly competition to raise money for programs at the YMCA of Centre County that also benefit their schools.
A woman caught a thieving squirrel red-handed as it repeatedly stole treats in a basket intended for delivery workers. Michele Boudreaux says she puts treats in a basket outside her New Jersey home for delivery workers each year during the holiday season.
Sgt. Michael Virga of the Hamilton Township Police Department in New Jersey was on patrol near Atlantic City airport on December 2 when his dashcam caught this fireball streaking across the sky. The department released the video on December 7. The American Meteor Society recorded 133 reports of the fireball on that night from several states, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland. The site’s director, Mike Hankey, told local media it was “most likely a cometary fireball.”
New Hanover County Sheriff Ed McMahon said at a Monday press conference that an arrest had been made in the largest seizure of heroin and fentanyl in county history. Deputies said in a Facebook post that they found the drugs during a Nov. 30 search of Shawqui Rahim Gray’s home on Oleander Drive in Wilmington. More arrests are expected.
