Related to matters of construction, the State College Area School District school board began a discussion about seating capacity in regard to potential renovations at Memorial Field.
The request for proposal indicated that the stadium could possibly return to its 2010 size of 4,000 seats. Today, it seats just roughly more than 2,500.
Adding seats would also increase the number of restrooms that are required, inflating the cost accordingly.
Expanding from 3,000 seats to 4,000 seats, for example, could cost an estimated $415,000.
Discussions surrounding the renovation of Memorial Field will continue into the fall.
Earlier in the evening, the board also approved the K-12 English/language arts and K-5 library curriculums.
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade will find their ELA writing units structured around three specific genres — narrative, informational and opinion/argument.
