One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday when a bicycle collided with a pickup truck in downtown State College.
According to police, Seth Willson, 21, of Upper Holland, was riding his bicycle south from Penn State’s campus at the intersection of East College Avenue and South Allen Street. At this time, Tyler Broderick, 19, of State College, was driving a pickup truck west along East College.
Broderick told police he was looking down when he approached the intersection, police said, and didn’t see that the light was red. When he realized it was red, he started to brake but still entered the intersection.
Willson said he hit the truck as he was crossing the intersection, police said. He complained of lower back pain and was taken from the scene by EMS.

Broderick was cited for failing to stop at a red signal, police said.
