An alleged confession during a phone call led to charges against a man who lives in Milroy.
A woman contacted state police at Lewistown on Oct. 5 to report several incidents that she told investigators happened from October 2016 to July 2017.
The woman told investigators that she took a bed to Jon Karl Bowersox’s garage in October 2016 for reasons that were not disclosed in an affidavit. Bowersox, 55, allegedly made comments about her body and groped her, prompting her to tell him to stop. (Bowersox is not the former Penns Valley baseball coach.)
At one point, she was alone in the garage with Bowersox who raped her despite her trying to fight him off and telling him to stop, according to an affidavit. There were allegedly several assaults over a period of time at the garage and Bowersox’s barn.
The connection between the woman and Bowersox and why she was at his garage and barn were not revealed in court documents. The woman told police she tried to fight him off several times until she stopped resisting altogether, because fighting had not stopped previous incidents.
A phone call was conducted on Dec. 8 when the woman called Bowersox from the Mifflin County District Attorney’s Office. The woman asked for an apology from Bowersox, who allegedly said he was sorry and that he crossed a line, according to an affidavit.
Bowersox was charged with felony rape, felony sexual assault and two counts of misdemeanor indecent assault. He posted $100,000 bail set by Mifflin County District Judge Kent Smith.
