Three police agencies launched an investigation into a suspicious vehicle that allegedly had a distressed child inside screaming “help me.”
The investigation was announced Monday on Facebook by the Sandy Township Police Department. DuBois and Penn State police also responded at about 11 a.m. Monday to the area of Shaffer Road and Commons Drive in Sandy Township.
The driver of another vehicle reported the white van to police and said screaming and kicking could be heard coming from inside the van. The screaming was most likely made by a girl, though no passengers were observed in the van.
The van’s driver was a white male with bleach blonde hair.
“While Police have limited information and are uncertain at this time of the true nature of what was observed and heard by at the passing motorist, to air on the side of caution, a bulletin has been issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies and the community,” Sandy Township police said in a statement. “If anyone was in the area at the time of the report and may have observed suspicious activity or may have seen a vehicle or person matching the descriptions provided, please call police by dialing 911 or the non-emergency number at 814-765-1533.”
