Penn State police received a report of an on-campus rape that occurred in the Pollock/South Residence Hall area between 11 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday, according to a university news release.
Police have a suspect, a student who is known to the individual who reported the crime. Police would not specify the gender of either party, and could not provide a description of the suspect.
No arrest has been made, and the matter is still under investigation, police said.
Police advise students to avoid walking alone, to report suspicious behavior to police, and if in an unsafe environment to leave immediately and seek help.

Anyone with helpful information is encouraged to tell university police either in person at 26 Eisenhower Parking Deck or by submitting an anonymous tip online.
Information can also be sent to Centre County Crime Stoppers by phone at 877-99CRIME with a $1,000 reward offered for information that leads to an arrest.
Police could not provide additional information and more details would be released as they become available.
