The streak is over for a Bellefonte man charged with exposing himself in public five times last year and more than a dozen times since 1995.
Serial streaker Kelvin Flory, 50, pleaded guilty Monday to charges stemming from five incidents between May and July in which he was seen masturbating and running around naked in public in State College and Bellefonte.
The Centre County District Attorney’s Office said Flory was sentenced to serve six to 12 years in state prison on multiple misdemeanor charges.
It won’t be the first time Flory has spent time behind bars for exposing himself in public. He was sentenced to serve a year in state prison in 2010 after he was seen naked and masturbating in the Hills Plaza on South Atherton Street.
Before that, Flory was arrested in 1995, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2007 for open lewdness or indecent exposure.
“Flory started to expose himself while masturbating shortly after getting out of state prison for the exact same behavior,” District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said in a statement Tuesday. “Some people leave you no other option but incarceration as a means to protect other people in the community.”
The most recent spate of arrests began in May when Flory led State College police on an early morning chase. He had been running naked between homes along South Atherton Street at about 2:20 a.m.
A naked Flory was tackled by State College police early on July 25 running through Community Field on South Atherton Street. It was the third time in July he had been arrested on similar charges. He had been able to post bail after each of those incidents, which Parks Miller at the time called “ridiculous.”
After the July 25 incident, District Judge Leslie Dutchcot set bail at $25,000. Flory has remained in the Centre County Correctional Facility since. While incarcerated, he was charged in January stemming from an incident in June in which Flory was seen masturbating near the Bellefonte YMCA.
Prosecutors said during his run of arrests last summer, Flory ran naked through a trailer park, exposed himself to employees of local businesses and masturbated on patios of homes.
Judge Jonathan Grine handed down the sentence Monday, Parks Miller said. Flory was last in court on March 21 for a pre-trial conference. He was next scheduled to appear for a motions hearing set for next week, according to court documents.
Flory’s attorney, Patrick Klena, could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday evening.
