An area man charged with committing his second armed robbery in a week allegedly told police he was looking for drug money and planned to hold up two other businesses in Centre County.
Jonathan J. Tenalio, 25, has now been formally charged in the robbery of The Cove New York Style Pizzeria in College Township on Monday.
Tenalio allegedly robbed the Nittany Budget Motel on Cato Avenue two days later, and was arrested Wednesday just hours after the incident.
Police said an informant provided information leading to Tenalio’s arrest. Tenalio allegedly sent text messages to the informant admitting to the two robberies and another at Doan’s Bones in Huntingdon County.
Tenalio allegedly confessed to the robberies and told police he was using the money to buy heroin and “Molly,” a more pure form of the club drug Ecstasy.
The man went on to tell investigators that he planned to rob businesses in Snow Shoe and Port Matilda before he was arrested, police wrote in a criminal complaint.
Police said Tenalio used a pellet gun in the robberies.
His address is unknown, and he was arrested at the residence of an acquaintance in Benner Township. He is charged with robbery, theft, unlawful possession of a firearm and receiving stolen property.
Tenalio remains in the Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
An attorney for the man was not listed on court documents.
