Two Penn State students have been charged with burglary after police said they stole speakers from a fraternity early Tuesday morning, State College police said.
Police said Keegan Lewis, 20, and Eric Schwarz, 20, were seen going into Phi Sigma Kappa, 501 S. Allen St., at about 1:30 a.m. without the permission of the fraternity residents.
Police said Lewis was found hiding behind chairs in the basement, and Schwarz appeared in the basement while police were talking to Lewis.
Police said a $400 Onkyo speaker was missing from the fraternity and that other items had been moved and damaged in the basement. Police said other items were scattered throughout the fraternity’s front yard.
Police said Lewis and Schwarz are members at Phi Kappa Tau, 408 E. Fairmount Ave.
A third person was seen inside the fraternity but got away.
Lewis, of Colts Neck, N.J., and Schwarz, of Ambler, are in the Centre County Correctional Facility awaiting a preliminary hearing next week. Their bail is set at $50,000.
