A Scranton man was sentenced Friday by President Judge Thomas King Kistler to between three and 231/2 months in prison and fined more than $1,200 for assaulting a State College police officer.
Brandon Bednash, 20, was charged with two counts of simple assault and reckless endangerment, and single counts of resisting arrest, escape, false identification to law enforcement and disorderly conduct, and two summaries.
On Oct. 12, an officer observed Bednash urinating near the former Arby’s restaurant at Atherton Street and West College Avenue.
The officer asked Bednash for identification, and Bednash said he had none. The officer told him he was being stopped for public urination, and as he attempted to flee, he pulled the officer into the street.

During the struggle, the officer fell off the curb and into the street.
The officer was taken to the ER and treated for a fractured elbow and damage to the soft tissue in her knees and elbow. Police were able to identify Bednash through papers in a backpack he left behind.
