A pair of Lewistown women are each charged with felony retail theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy after reportedly attempting to steal two shopping carts full of merchandise at the Benner Pike Wal-Mart Friday night, State College police said.
Security personnel at the store stopped Margaret Habbershon, 54, and Luann Shoop, 59, as they were trying to leave and called police at 8:33 p.m., police said. The items in the carts were valued at $1,678.72, according to police.
Habbershon and Shoop have prior records for theft. Habbershon pleaded guilty to retail theft last year in Juniata County and Shoop pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property in 2007 in Mifflin County, according to online court documents.
Both are held at Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
