State College police are warning residents of drug-laced gummy candies being distributed in the area.
According to a release Thursday, the candies are laced with Xanax, Valium or other prescription drugs. Although they have been present in the state for some time, this is the first time they have appeared in the area.
Laced gummy candy looks no different from regular gummy candy, police said, and poses an overdose threat if someone isn’t aware of what they are ingesting.
One candy is enough to affect a person, Lt. Keith Robb said. After eating two or three, a person could face an overdose.
Never miss a local story.
Police are in possession of some of the candy, he said, but declined to give details, citing an ongoing investigation.
