Ex-PSU worker accused of theft-related felonies
A former Penn State employee has been charged with two theft-related felonies after police say she used Penn State credit cards to buy items and resell them for profit — stealing $44,275 between August 2006 and January 2009.
Tonya Dawn Sunday, 36, of State College, was arraigned Tuesday morning by District Judge Jonathan Grine and sent to prison on $10,000 unsecured bail. She was a research assistant and project coordinator in the College of Health and Human Development, police wrote in a criminal complaint, and handled two Penn State credit cards used to purchase work-related items.
An investigation found that Sunday was using the cards to buy a lot of ink and toner, which were then sold to a Utah-based company, police said. She also bought other items with Penn State accounts and sold them on eBay, court papers say.

Milesburg man charged with rape
A Milesburg man has been charged with rape after police say he assaulted a woman after inviting her to his apartment to watch a movie with friends.
When the woman arrived the afternoon of Jan. 26, she told police no one else was there and that about an hour later, Kyle A. Lingle, 20, pushed her down on the couch and raped her.
The woman told police: “I couldn’t push him off me. I didn’t know what he was doing. I did try to get up, but he was holding me down.”
Lingle is charged with rape and sexual assault.
He first denied ever having sex with the woman, a three-page criminal complaint says. Later police said he admitted they had consensual sex, court papers show, but he said he knew that “she was not into it.”
Court papers say Lingle told police: “I figured I’d try it and see how it goes. It didn’t feel right, so I stopped. I figured it was a one-night stand.”
Fla. man arrested on suspicion on DUI
A 21-year-old Florida man was arrested by State College police in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Benner Pike after police say he was seen huffing cleaner in his car, then raced through the lot, hitting a pedestrian and another car.
The man hasn’t been identified because he has yet to be formally charged, but police say he and his passenger, an 18- year-old man, were pulled over in a green Mercedes when police saw them speeding near the Barnes & Noble bookstore. No one was hurt, police said.
The driver told police he stole Dust-Off cleaner and had huffed it. A marijuana pipe was also found in the car. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a blood test.
