A 50-year-old Holtwood man was in critical condition Sunday evening after a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Sycamore Street and Devils Elbow Road in Boggs Township.
William K. Bindley was flown to Altoona Hospital from the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly after 1:10 a.m. on Sunday.
Police say the accident occurred as Bindley was driving his 2000 Subaru Forester north on East Sycamore Street and failed to negotiate a left turn. His vehicle then struck a group of trees.
Brawl sends man to hospital for stitches
A fight at 124 S. Allen St. in State College sent one man to Mount Nittany Medical Center with a laceration to the head that required stitches. Police say the fight occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, and the other individual was not found.
2 men cited for disorderly conduct early Sunday
State College police say two men were cited for disorderly conduct for a a fight that occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at 100 S. Pugh St.
2 men cited for fight with each other, bar staff
Police say two men were cited for disorderly conduct after they got into a fight with each other and then staff members at bar at 129 S. Pugh St. The fight occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday.
Man cited after sleeping in stranger’s bed
State College police cited a man for drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he allegedly entered a stranger’s apartment at 202 W. Fairmount Ave. and went to sleep in an unoccupied bed. State College police received the report shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Easter Seals launches campaign
Easter Seals has kicked off its 2009 V.I.C. — Very Important Children — Campaign to raise $50,000 to help ease the financial burden on families that do not have private health insurance, have limited coverage or don’t have the resources to pay for needed services.
The campaign is being led by Bill and Connie Hayes, of State College. Bill Hayes is president and CEO of Kish Bank; Connie Hayes is a retired consultant and lecturer on Pennsylvania antiques and textiles. The campaign steering committee consists of Rany and Lynor Bachman, Jim and Donna Fick, Bob and Connie Fogelsanger, Dane and Melinda Hooper, John and Sandy Lieb, Gary and Donna Royer and Paul and Nancy Silvis.
