Our Newspaper in Education program in local schools and the Newspaper Readership Program at Penn State are great stories.
They're bringing young readers into the paper in a big way, and I highlighted them today in my print column.
Pickup of the CDT is up 13 percent at Penn State from last fall semester. That counters what I heard from a reader last week, who emailed me saying young people don't read papers and we should only run stories that he's interested in.
He's in his 50s, he said, noting that those are the average readers of the paper.
Young readers are finding the paper and the mix of stories appeals to them, I hope.
