OK, I'll raise the obvious.
Isn't it unusual that nobody who signed the petition against smoking in Talleyrand Park showed up at last night's council meeting?
And isn't it unusual that council acted on that public "support," approving a total ban while some members wanted the restrictions that had been proposed?
Well, isn't that unusual?
We had editorialized in favor of the restrictions, because the edit board was split over whether a full ban should be in place. Kind of like the council.
I think people who sign petitions should carry through their feelings and show up at meetings -- at least a few of them. I guess it doesn't matter in Bellefonte.
